Who can be a member of Rosella Jam
- Rosella Jam is open to anyone who can sing.
- There are no auditions until you wish to become part of the performing group.
- If you are unsure of your part, our MD will help assist upon your arrival.
- You don’t have to be able to read music.
- Existing members may know some of the annual repertoire, but new members are taught from scratch and personally assisted by Section Leaders.
- More male voices are always needed and female tenors are welcome.
What happens when I first become a member of the choir?
When you first join you will receive a membership pack containing: a music folder, a learning CD with your parts and details of membership rights and volunteering opportunities.
Your first night is free. If after practicing with us for 2 more weeks (paid nightly) and you wish to become a full member, you will be required to pay the balance of the term fee.
If and when you become part of the performing group you will also need to buy our performance outfit.
Each year, returning members receive new sheet music and practice CD's.
What do my fees pay for?
Your fees pay for rehearsals, song copyright, practice materials, a professional musical director, public liability insurance and hire costs for rehearsal and concert venues. Busy volunteers manage, administer and fundraise for the choir.
To enable the choir to run, we ask you to pay any fees due at the start of the term.

-
Choreography practice is throughout the rehearsal
As needed by the demands of the repertoire and/or gigs booked, there may be extra rehearsals or a workshop as well as voice part tutorials with your Section Leader.
What do you expect from me?
Until you wish to become part of the performing group we expect that you will join us for as many rehearsals as possible with an aim to growing confident enough to eventually graduate to become part of the performing group.
It is also an expectation that members will actively participate in a number of fundraisers throughout the year to assist in keeping members fees at a minimum.
EXPECTATIONS PERFORMING GROUP
- To ensure an enjoyable experience for all singers and high quality performances for our audiences, we expect you to arrive on time and to attend 90% rehearsals. If you don’t, the Director may ask you not to perform.
- We suggest that you bring your own water bottle and a pencil to mark changes, dynamics, song form and so on. It’s also a good idea to bring along a small hand-held recording device to tape rehearsals.
- We expect you to let the Membership Co-ordinator know of any changes to your contact details or availability as soon as possible.
- We strongly recommend that you sing along to your practice CD, at least, four times a week. More if possible.
